Indigenous Names, Songs & Colours

Grandfather Wanbdi Wakita explains the importance of knowing our names, songs, and colours. At the age of thirteen, Grandfather was given his name, which translates to “Looking Eagle”, in a ceremony conducted by Leo Menard. He told him, “You were given this name because your job is to look at the people. When you see that they need help, go and help them.” For over five decades, that is exactly what he has done.
