Biography

Clayton Sandy is a member of the Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation. Both parents and five siblings are Residential School Survivors. And he, as well, is a survivor of the 60’s scoop. In his 40 year career with the Manitoba government, Clayton feels non-Indigenous people are just starting to hear and read the TRUTH of the impact of this era has had on Indigenous people in this country. In 2019, he approached six of his close friends and introduced the idea of the Turtle Island Project Exercise. After two years of research and personal stories, we are pleased to bring you our lived history in this exercise.
