Biography

Émilie McKinney is a 19-year-old entrepreneur, business student, public speaker, and artist from Swan Lake First Nation. She is the founder of Anishinaabe Bimishimo Corporation, the first business to manufacture jingle dress cones and lids in Canada, and has received multiple awards including Youth Entrepreneur of the Year by StartUp Canada in 2018. Émilie beads and sews PowWow Regalia, and has been dancing ever since she could walk. She dances Jingle and Fancy Shawl, and is an international Hoop Dancer who has traveled overseas to demonstrate the dance. Émilie is learning Cree and Ojibway through her post-secondary education, and from Elders in her home community.
