Lester Everett

Lester Everett was born and raised in Berens River, Manitoba. At 16, Lester moved to Winnipeg studying at Dakota Collegiate high school then onto University of Manitoba. He completed a counseling program and returned to work in Berens River as a school coordinator. Lester ran as a Chief in his community and was elected multiple times, winning four elections and served a total of 8 years. In 1984, he decided to pursue his own business and created Oshetoon Ltd. With no money and government financing, he started to slowly develop his company which started out as a lumber yard. Throughout the years, he expanded to sell hardware, groceries and gas. In 2019, Lester introduced a second store in Poplar River, Manitoba as Cheeman’s Store. Cheeman sells groceries, lumber and other building materials. Lester hopes to expand Cheeman’s offerings and continue to serve the people of the community.
