Sagkeeng Youth Greenhouse
Tikkan Morrisseau
Tikkan, hailing from Sagkeeng First Nation in Treaty 1, 3, and 5 territory, is committed to community development, environmental conservation, and renewable energy. Alongside community youth, she created the Sagkeeng Youth Group, a grassroots initiative to support youth engagement in community development. She led the establishment of a community garden in 2019 to address food security. Recognizing the need for a solid foundation, Tikkan, supported by Indigenous Clean Energy’s ImaGENation program, collaborated with Sara to construct a solar-powered greenhouse at their high school. Having completed the program, they’re gearing up for the greenhouse’s maiden growing season. Additionally, Tikkan recently graduated from ICE’s Generation Power program and now serves as a solar assistant at Powertec Solar.
