Biography

Darlene Beck is from Cross Lake Manitoba. She was born and raised in the North and has lived in several Northern communities. For 46 years, she has been employed with the Cross Lake Community Council now known as the Incorporated Community of Cross Lake, as Chief Administrative Officer.

Darlene volunteers on various boards and committees that benefit Northern communities and Manitoba. She is the Fire Chief, Emergency Coordinator for the community since 1989, involved with Emergency Medical Services, an Ambulance Coordinator, and retired Paramedic.

One of the founding team members for North Central Community Futures Development Corporation, Darlene has been on the Board for several years as Chairperson, Board Member and Volunteer. She is one of the founding team members for the Cross Lake Cadet Program, and Chair of the program’s Sponsoring Committee, also a member of the Commanding Officer’s Indigenous Advisory Committee for the RCMP.

Darlene was a recipient of the Queens Diamond Jubilee award in July 2012 for her commitment and dedication to Manitoba. She believes that success comes from working, planning and playing together for the betterment of family, friends and communities.

Darlene’s biggest accomplishment in life is being mother to four beautiful children and Kokum to 13 grandchildren. She enjoys being with family and friends, outings to the family trap line, camping and hunting, and helping with youth development. She thanks the family of North Central under the leader ship of Tim Johnson and the dedicated staff such as Tamy Burton for the years of services, commitment and always remaining Humble and Kind.
