Biography

Award Winning Actor/Comedian

Tatanka Means is an award-winning actor and stand-up comedian from Chinle, Arizona. He represents the Navajo, Omaha, Ihanktonwan Nations, and is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

Means currently stars in the highly acclaimed Martin Scorsese Western crime drama film, Killers of The Flower Moon, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, and Robert De Niro. The film is based on the true story of a series of murders of the Osage people that took place in the early 1920s, which in turn led to the creation of the FBI. Means plays John Wren, one of the first Native American FBI agents.

Means is starring in Kevin Costner’s soon to be released Western four-part film epic, Horizon: An American Saga, and Wind River: Rising directed by Kari Skogland, the sequel to Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed 2017 film, Wind River, as well as the much anticipated A24 horror film, Opus, alongside Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich. His other recent work includes FX’s critically acclaimed series, Reservation Dogs, and he is currently filming the series Ransom Canyon featuring James Brolin, Josh Duhamel, and Minka Kelly.

Aside from acting, Tatanka performs stand-up comedy throughout Indian Country spreading laughter and speaking to Native youth on reservations about healthy living and sobriety wellness.

He currently resides in New Mexico with his wife and children. Means is the son of Gloria Grant and American Indian activist and actor, Russell Means.
