Enhance Your Skills with Pre-Conference Courses

TWO Pre-Conference Courses are being offered at Vision Quest 2023!

Vision Quest Conference & Trade Show continues to offer more opportunities to learn and develop new skills. This year, they are offering TWO Pre-Conference Courses, exclusively for Conference delegates. These courses will take place on Tuesday, May 16th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the RBC Convention Centre.

Financial Management for Non-Profits – Jason Denbow from Community Futures Leadership Institute

This module demonstrates the relationship between financial management and long-range goals that boards must establish. Boards must be able to set financial policies and evaluate their organization’s financial performance.

Participants will:

  • Recognize roles in financial management
  • Examine how to establish accountability for achieving the objectives set out in the board’s plans
  • Identify the financial reports that are used to measure the financial performance of the organization
  • Review financial objectives and audits
  • Understand the role of the audit in maintaining accountability

Tips & Tools to Develop Group Facilitation Skills – Sharalyn Reitlo from Community Futures Winnipeg River

Facilitation skills are vital for anyone who chairs a committee or works with businesses, organizations, or groups. Facilitation skills are useful in achieving group outcomes of any kind, and even come in handy at home!  In this session, participants will gain a clear understanding of what facilitation is and is not; roles the facilitator plays within the group; and qualities/skills that facilitators should have.

Participants will:

Learn various facilitation tips and tools as we discuss key group processes including:

  • Decision Making
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Running Meetings
  • Building Partnerships
  • Planning for a project or organizational operations

All participants who attend and finish the course will receive a certificate of completion.

Cost: $125.00 (Delegates only; In addition to Conference registration fee)

Refreshments provided. Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age and must bring photo I.D. to check-in.
