Waneek’s journey from the pain captured in a photo during the Oka Crisis to her strength displayed on the cover of TIME magazine as the first Mohawk woman to compete in the Olympics, is an inspiring example of resilience and determination. As a mother, activist, athlete, and entrepreneur, Waneek has always stood up for what is right, including serving as Director of Community Engagement for the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
